What Could Happen to You after Your DUI?

If you’re 21 or older in Ohio, it’s illegal to drive with a blood alcohol level of .08 percent. Reckless driving, however, can still get you a violation, even if you’re below that level.

A charge for driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs can lead to these punishments if you’ve never had this violation before:

  • Attending a driver intervention program
  • Paying a fine of at least $375—up to $1,075
  • Having restricted license plates on your car pointing you out as an OVI offender
  • Having to use a breathalyzer device to start your car
  • Having your license suspended for up to three years
  • Spending at least three days—and up to six months—in jail

These penalties could jeopardize your job, relationships and ability to manage your own personal business.

But an experienced lawyer can help you navigate the legal system to get the best possible result for your future prospects.

You can start by getting our law firm to evaluate your case for free.

How HNB Helps You

When you’re facing DUI or OVI charges, your case can go in many different directions.

When you work with a lawyer, your lawyer can argue for you to get the most driving privileges possible.

An attorney can fight to minimize your jail time.

A lawyer can explore ways of getting your case dismissed and reducing the ways a DUI conviction can hinder your life in the long term.

No matter what your options are, your lawyer can help make the legal process run as smoothly as possible for you.

For example, when your court date arrives, courts will often handle your case faster if you have an attorney representing you. Without an attorney, you’ll have to wait while the judge handles all the people with attorneys.

The legal system won’t seem friendly to you, but we are. Our job is to help you get through difficult issues so you can get back to living your life.
